Mazda South Africa has announced the six-cylinder CX-60 is heading SA, with the local arm of the Japanese automaker saying the CX-60 Takumi will “soon” (February 2024, to be precise) be added to the company’s line-up.
Spearheading the CX-60 range — which currently comprises two models, each employing the company’s 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol, producing 141 kW and 261 Nm — the CX-60 Takumi is powered by a 3.3-litre inline-six turbodiesel, incorporating mild-hybrid technology. The oil-burner produces 158 kW and 550 Nm of torque.
Bar its powertrain, the Mazda CX-60 Takumi is set apart from its stablemates with several model-specific design items. These include an “exclusive” front bumper, replete with a piano black front grille; and bright metal finish for the front wings, side trim elements and glazing surrounds. The CX-60 Takumi sits on a set of 20-inch black metallic alloy wheels.
“The CX-60 is a brilliant SUV in any derivative, and we are thrilled to be adding the Takumi to our local range,” said Craig Roberts, MD of Mazda SA.
Pricing and specification will be confirmed closer to the local introduction date, Mazda SA says. Be sure to keep an eye on APEX for the latest.
