Girard-Perregaux, the official watch partner of Aston Martin, has unboxed a brand-new Neo Bridges timepiece inspired by the British luxury marque’s super tourer, the DB12.
Billed as a DB12 for your wrist, the Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition is the fifth co-branded piece by the Swiss luxury watchmaker and the Gaydon-based automaker.
“Driven by the passion of both parties to push the performance envelope in terms of design and watchmaking expertise,” this new Girard-Perregaux “seamlessly blends beauty and engineering to deliver breathtaking performance,” the La Chaux-de-Fonds watchmaker says.
Inspired by the new DB12, the latest addition to Girard-Perregaux’s portfolio “reflects the car’s sculpted contours and sharp lines.” The black diamond-like-carbon (DLC) coated titanium case, replete with sapphire case back, is eye-catching, blending beauty and engineering to a T.
The 45 mm item houses the firm’s GP08400-2164 self-winding, mechanical movement. The automatic unit beats at 21 600 vph (3 Hz) for a power reserve of 48 hours.
“It was clear from the start of our relationship with Girard-Perregaux as our official watch partner that we had a shared passion for precision and performance design. Our exchange of ideas about design details and specifications flowed openly, naturally, and the watches bearing our names have been authentically co-built through a shared spirit of true collaboration,” said Marek Reichmann, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin Lagonda.
“The Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition is the impressive outcome of two companies synergistically working together”
“In this latest model, the Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition, the joint creative team, comprising designers from both companies, decided to challenge some commonly held horological conventions around the design of the movement. With due consideration given to structural rigidity, performance and beauty, I’m delighted with the result.”
Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Girard-Perregaux added, “This was not merely a case of putting Aston Martin’s name on one of our watches. They played an active role in the conception of this watch, looking at the materials employed and, interestingly, the design of the movement. The Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition is the impressive outcome of two companies synergistically working together.”
The Girard-Perregaux Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition is priced at $37 700. At the current Rand-Dollar exchange rate, that translates to R719,562.94.
