Ford South Africa has announced the Mustang Mach-E is penned in for local shores, with the Blue Oval brand’s first-ever electric vehicle to be developed from the ground up scheduled to arrive here in 2025.

According to Ford, “The Mustang Mach-E introduces the freedom, performance and iconic character of the world’s best-selling sports car to all-electric vehicle customers. Powered by a responsive, energy-efficient, battery-electric drivetrain, the first-ever SUV member of the Mustang family delivers impressive performance and acceleration [the Mustang Mach-E GT completes the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 3.7 seconds].”

Ford SA has yet to confirm which models will make up the local Mustang Mach-E range. Overseas, however, it is available in Select, Premium and GT guises. Spearheading the global line-up, the latter variant employs a dual electric motor powertrain, driving all four wheels. Adaptive suspension is also present. Stopping power is provided by a set of “high-performance” Brembo brakes. The range-topping Mustang Mach-E further features model-specific body styling, 20-inch alloy wheels and Ford Performance front sports seats.
