The Audi Q5 Sportback has finally arrived on South African shores, with the local arm of the Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer revealing pricing for the sloping-roof Q5. See pricing below…

Boasting an in-vogue roof design, the Q5 Sportback is the third SUV under the Sportback namesake. Compared to its more traditionally styled sibling, the Sportback variant measures 7 mm longer, though shares the same width and height.

Single frame grille flanked by LED headlamps.

Priced from R960 000, the four-strong line-up comprises a trio of engine options. Powering the 40 TDI-badged models, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel motor produces 140 kW and 400 Nm. The 45 TFSI versions are endowed with Audi’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which churns out 183 kW and 370 Nm.

Spearheading the range, the SQ5 Sportback features the German automaker’s 3.0-litre V6 powertrain. According to Audi, the 260 kW/500 Nm unit propels the flagship model to 100 km/h from standstill in 4.9 seconds. All models are equipped with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.

In-vogue roofline.

Highlights to the exterior includes Audi’s signature single frame grille and LED headlamps (Matrix LED units, complete with dynamic turn signals, are available as an option). The interior remains familiar Audi fare, with a large touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage. An array of packages are on offer.

As standard, all models ship with the German marque’s five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan. A warranty of similar duration and distance is included in the asking prices.
