Billed as the most driving-focused version of the Crew-based company’s luxury performance sedan family, Bentley has unveiled the Flying Spur Speed, one of the last models to feature the firm’s iconic W12 engine.

Flying Spur Speed

Slotting in above the recently revealed Flying Spur S, the Speed variant’s W12 motor boasts more power and torque, 63 kW and 130 Nm, to be precise. The 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged unit powering the Flying Spur Speed produces a total output of 467 kW and 900 Nm! The British marque says this allows the luxury saloon to sprint to the three-figure marker from a standstill in 3.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 333 km/h.

The engine is coupled with an eight-speed ZF dual-clutch transmission, the same unit found in the Continental GT. Bentley says the gearbox allows for smooth and refined acceleration, quicker gearshifts and improved fuel economy.

Torque distribution varies according to the selected Drive Dynamics Mode. In Comfort, 480 Nm are sent to the front axle for more grip and driveability. In Sport, 280 Nm are sent to the front wheels.

According to the automaker, the Flying Spur Speed inspires confidence through its handling ability and balanced dynamic precision. Bentley says this is achieved thanks to the “advanced” active all-wheel-drive system, Bentley Dynamic Ride and electric all-wheel steering.

The Flying Spur Speed is set apart from its stablemates with the addition of high-gloss carbon-fibre finishes. The Styling Specification includes a front bumper splitter, side skirts with metallic Bentley badges, a rear diffuser and a boot-mounted rear spoiler.

The Blackline Specification package “provides a contemporary alternative”. Specified with this pack, the Flying Spur Speed’s standard brightwork is replaced with black items.

“Unique” 22-inch Speed alloys are standard. However, customers can choose to option Dark Tint, Gloss Black and silver 22-inch items at additional cost.
