Modifications to chassis technology ensures “precisely controllable driving characteristics even when pushing hard on the track”.

According to the German marque, the modifications to the M135i xDrive chassis technology has resulted in “even better” mounting. This, BMW says, ensures “precisely controllable driving characteristics even when pushing hard on the track”.

“The power produced by the 2.0-litre motor can now be ‘harnessed’ more effectively to produce ‘captivating’ driving dynamics”

The upgrades include, among others, increased camber values for the front wheels “for [the] absorption of lateral forces when powering through corners”, a new hydro mount for the front suspension’s wishbones, and recalibration of the spring and damping system. The mounts for the trailing and control arms at the rear axle have also been redesigned.

Thanks to the these updates, BMW says the power produced by the M135i xDrive’s 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo motor can now be “harnessed” more effectively to produce “captivating” driving dynamics. As a reminder, the turbocharged four-cylinder unit sends 225 kW and 450 N.m of torque, the latter available from 1 750 r/min, to all four corners via BMW’s eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The firm has, however, not mentioned whether the above mentioned modifications have enhanced the M135i xDrive’s claimed zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds.

“Revised soundtrack conveys the signature four-cylinder engine note of a BMW M model”

Inside, BMW has also retuned the drive soundtrack which, the company says, “makes the driving experience even more emotionally engaging”. Said BMW, “The revised soundtrack conveys the signature four-cylinder engine note of a BMW M model to those on board more authentically than ever.”
