BMW South Africa has confirmed that the recently revealed M4 50 Jahre edition is heading to local shores, announcing that five (of the 500) units are penned in for our market.

“SA-bound models will feature San Marino Blue paint”

Although the limited-edition model will feature (market-dependent) model-specific design elements and individually selectable options, BMW has said that the exclusive character of the M4 50 Jahre edition results from a market-specific configuration with unique styling features.

So, how will the 50 Jahre editions be specified for our market? The SA-bound models will feature San Marino Blue exterior paintwork and Gold Bronze matte wheels. The M forged alloys measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear.

Although familiar M4 fare, the interior features myriad “Edition 50 Jahre BMW M” logos and lettering. “M4 Edition 50 Jahre BMW M” lettering can be found on the centre console, while “Edition 50 Jahre BMW M” can be found on the standard M sports seats’ headrests and the door sill panels.

The 50 Jahre edition is based on the all-wheel-drive M4 Competition coupé. As a reminder, this M4’s 3.0-litre six-cylinder powertrain, coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission, produces 375 kW and 650 Nm for a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 290 km/h.

However, this is not the only special-edition M4 heading to SA. As a reminder, the local arm of the Munich-based car manufacturer has also confirmed that 15 units of the all-new M4 CSL are penned in for SA.
