BMW South Africa has quietly added the M760e xDrive to its local portfolio, listing the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) 7 Series on its website. Here’s how much you can expect to pay…
Priced from R 3 090 000, the M760e xDrive is the most expensive model in the German marque’s local 7 Series offering. (Indeed, it’s priced R80 000 more than the range-topping i7 xDrive60 M Sport, which we sampled on the local launch at the start of 2023.) Included in the pricing is a five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan, and a two-year/unlimited km vehicle and eight-year/100 000 km hybrid battery warranty.
The M760e xDrive’s petrol-electric powertrain comprises a 280 kW/520 Nm 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, coupled with a 145 kW/280 Nm electric motor for total power and torque outputs of 420 kW and 800 Nm. According to the Bavarian brand, this allows the 2 450 kg luxury saloon to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.3 seconds, before topping out at 250 km/h. The M760e xDrive can travel at a speed of 140 km/h on electric power alone, with the electric-only range coming in at a claimed 90 km. BMW claims the plug-in hybrid system sips, on average, 2.2 L/100 km.
