BMW has revealed new details of the upcoming 7 Series and its electrically powered sibling, the i7, with the firm saying the new-generation 7 is absolutely trail-blazing.

Scheduled to make its global premiere in April 2022, the new 7 will sport new front-end styling that’s based on the Bavarian firm’s latest design language. However, the most focus has been placed on the technology found inside the luxury saloon. According to the Munich-based manufacturer, the new 7 will offer a unique interior experience, comprising a host of digital features and exclusive materials.

Billed as the most powerful 7 Series, the i7 will make its debut alongside the traditionally powered saloon derivative. Said Frank Weber, member of the board of management of BMW AG for development, “ “The all-electric BMW i7 is also the most powerful BMW 7 Series. It combines the best driving experience with the ultimate digital experience. This makes it the ideal vehicle for forward-thinking, responsible decision-makers and avant-garde pioneers.”

The i7 is characterised by design elements such as twin round headlamps and a grille that has been “completely” reinterpreted to achieve a modern and distinct look. Some of the unique styling statements include upper light elements, which are made of exclusive crystal glass, and illuminated contours of the kidney grille.

Inside, the focus has been placed on an innovative user experience, created with fresh My Modes and the latest version of BMW’s iDrive operating system. My Modes enable the driver to customise the car’s driving characteristics and interior ambience. A BMW Interaction Bar forms part of the ambient lighting and integrates control buttons.

According to BMW, the rear compartment of the new 7’s interior sets new entertainment standards. An ultra-wide theatre screen, which moves out of the roof liner, measures 31 inches and offers a streaming resolution of 8K.
