BMW has whipped the wraps of the X7 Nishijin Edition, an exclusive version of the German firm’s flagship SAV (sports activity vehicle) boasting special exterior and interior trim.
The exterior hue of the limited-edition X7 uses multiple pigments to achieve “deep” colours through multi-layer coating. Among these are BMW Individual ametrine. According to the Munich-based manufacturer, the paint is skilfully used with multiple pigments, such as aluminium flakes and mica. The painted surface is “carefully” layered from the undercoat to bring out the depth of colour and light. This allows the body colour to “shine intricately and beautifully” from purple to red, blue, and yellow.
Inside, the X7 Nishijin Edition’s Merino leather-upholstery is decorated with foil, which is cut into “extremely” fine pieces. The surface of each piece is pulled and checked while being delicately woven with silk warp threads. The three-dimensional weave emits “elegant” light and colour.
The Nishijin Edition is based on the X7 xDrive40d in Pure Excellence guise. As a reminder, the xDrive40d-badged variant’s 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six oil-burner incorporates 48 V mild-hybrid technology and produces 250 kW and 700 N.m of torque, the latter available from 1 750 r/min to 2 250 r/min. Only three units will be built.
