BMW’s duo of premium midsize sports SUVs has landed on South African shores, with the local arm of the Munich car manufacturer revealing pricing for the X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition.
The flagship X3 and its coupé-styled SAC (sports activity coupé in BMW speak) are priced at R1 970 562 and R2 070 562 respectively. Both models ship with a generous amount of standard specification which, among others, features a head-up display; M sports seats; 21-inch alloy wheels, and an M sports exhaust system.
The list of optional extras includes, among others, heating functionality for the multifunction steering wheel (R3 050); seats with active ventilation (R23 000). M carbon mirror caps are a R12 300 option.
Both models are endowed with BMW’s 3.0-litre petrol motor. The twin-turbocharged unit sends 375 kW and 650 N.m of torque to the firm’s M xDrive all-wheel-drive system via an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission. For the X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition, BMW claims a zero to 100 km/h sprint time of 3.8 seconds and top speed of 285 km/h.
