Armoured Mobility has handed the Tiggo 8 Pro Max the bulletproof treatment.
Built with B4 ‘Discreet Premium Luxury’ armour, this Tiggo 8 Pro Max “seamlessly combines innovation, security, and a remarkable driving experience”, the firm says. Weighing “only” 140 kg, the B4 armour “sets a new benchmark for lightweight protection”, the company added. So, against what does this armour package offer protection? In short: bulletproof protection against handguns (of the 9 mm, and .357 and .44 Magnum varieties) and shotguns.
The B4 armour-equipped Chery has received the official stamp of approval from the local arm of the Chinese automaker, meaning the factory warranty — five years/150 000 km vehicle and 10 years/1 million km engine (for the first owner) — remains in place. The B4 Tiggo 8 Pro Max is priced at R1 299 900.
“Armoured Mobility have constantly pushed the boundaries in armouring, with a strong focus on making armoured vehicles more accessible. With this Chery, we have now established a position of providing an armoured vehicle that is not only more affordable but approved by Chery SA and can be bank financed. We are asking South Africans to consider a B4 protected vehicle for their families and themselves,” said Yusuf Moolla, Armoured Mobility Marketing Manager.
As a reminder, Chery’s flagship SUV, which we sampled in 2023, is available with two petrol engine options, a 1.6-litre four-pot, producing 145 kW and 290 Nm of torque, and a 187 kW/390 Nm 2.0-litre, which powers the armoured version, endowed with the same number of cylinders. The former model is, as standard, priced at R609 900, with the latter variant coming in at R669 900. Each variant ships with a five-year/60 000 km service plan.
