As part of the first phase of Volkswagen South Africa’s EV strategy, the local arm of the German automotive giant brought in a few e-Golfs to South Africa, in a bid to test local motorists’ perceptions around emissions-free vehicles. Although it was never sold here, we decided to take the e-Golf, which is based on the previous-generation Golf, for a drive and chat about our perceptions of the Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer’s electric future, especially that pertaining to South Africa.
