Another week, another thrilling drag race from the folks over at British publication carwow. This time, carwow presenter and APEX contributor Mat Watson pits the BMW M3 Competition against its electrically powered stablemate, the i4 M50 (see South African pricing here). Watch the video below…

As a reminder, the M3 Competition is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six. The twin-turbocharged petrol unit produces 375 kW and 650 Nm of torque. According to BMW, these figures are sufficient for the rear-wheel-driven M3 Competition to reach the three-figure marker from a standstill in 3.9 seconds. The all-wheel-drive i4 M50, on the other hand, produces 400 kW and 795 Nm. However, this EV’s claimed acceleration time is also 3.9 seconds.
