Another day, another drag race courtesy of the folks over at carwow. And this time, Mat Watson pits the new BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé against the Audi RS5 Sportback. Watch the video below…

As a reminder, the M440i xDrive Gran Coupé’s 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine directs 285 kW and 500 N.m to all four corners via BMW’s eight-speed Sport Steptronic transmission for a claimed zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.7 seconds and (electronically governed) top speed of 250 km/h. The RS5 Sportback’s 2.9-litre, V6 turbopetrol unit is endowed with 331 kW and 600 Nm of torque, which allows a claimed zero to 100 km/h sprint time of 3.9 seconds and, like the BMW, electronically limited 250 km/h. The Audi’s maximum speed can, however, be increased to 280 km/h with the fitment of the optional RS Dynamic package.
