Mercedes-AMG has whipped the wraps off the C63 S E Performance F1 Edition. Available for only one year from the start of sales, the F1 Edition features several “exclusive” features. These include MANUFAKTUR alpine grey uni exterior paintwork, a “striking and distinguishing” feature, foiling on the flanks featuring the AMG logo and a colour gradient from grey to black. In addition, the F1 Edition features red trim lines on the fore and aft aprons and the sides.
The F1 Edition rides on matte black-finished 20-inch AMG forged alloy wheels with a five-twin-spoke design. AMG says the red rim flanges provide an attractive contrast, following the colour scheme of the wheels of the official FIA F1 medical car from Mercedes-AMG. In addition, the special-edition model is equipped with AMG’s Aerodynamics Package and Night Package I and II.
Inside, the AMG Performance pews are trimmed in black Nappa leather with red contrast stitching. The AMG emblem is embossed on the headrests.
As a reminder, for the C63 S E Performance, the Three-pointed Star brand has ditched the previous model’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine for an electrified four-pot. The 350 kW/545 Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged internal combustion unit is coupled with a 150 kW/320 Nm electric motor for a combined output of 500 kW and 1 020 Nm of torque. The Affalterbach-based brand says these figures allow the 2 111 kg sedan to sprint to the three-figure marker from a standstill in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h but can be lifted to 280 km/h as an option.
The petrol-electric arrangement is mated with AMG’s nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission, which directs power to the Affalterbach-based firm’s 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system.
The new C63 is scheduled to arrive in South Africa during the first quarter of 2023.
