Mahindra has announced that the first 25 000 Scorpio-N units have sold out in “less than” one minute in India, resulting in its website crashing with the number of orders for what the company bills the “Big Daddy of SUVs”. The exact amount of time — only 55 seconds.

As a reminder, the automaker’s local arm has announced in June 2022 that the Scorpio-N is headed to our shores, with the firm confirming it will be available from 2023. However, Mahindra says the Scorpio-N will first complete a “comprehensive” local testing programme before its arrival.

The carmaker says, “The all-new Scorpio-N has been designed to redefine the D-segment SUV category with its dominating presence, head-turning design, commanding driving position and well-appointed interior.”

As a reminder, the Scorpio-N will be available with two engine options, a petrol powertrain and an oil-burner. The former unit produces 149 kW and 380 Nm of torque. The mHawk diesel motor produces 129 kW and 400 Nm. Two transmission options are on offer, a six-speed manual gearbox and an automatic with a similar number of cogs. Four-wheel drive is also available.
