Named ‘My Life in Motion’, the project, Makamo says, is not just a representation of his success, but also a nod to the various people he has encountered along the way.

Makamo has featured on the cover of TIME Magazine as one of 34 people who are changing how we see the world

At his Johannesburg art studio, Makamo hand-painted a number of components and panels of his 911. These elements included the rear bumper, front seat mouldings, door handles, dash panel inserts, the parking brake console and side mirror covers.

This is the first time Makamo has mentioned his mother in his artwork

This project is one of Makamo’s most personal yet.

For the left side door panel insert, Makamo added the inscription ‘Mma’, three letters that mean ‘mother’ in his native language of Sepedi. It’s a special gesture, as this is the first time Makamo has mentioned his mother – a women who supported and inspired him throughout his life – in his artwork.
