The Honda Fit has debuted in South Africa, with Honda’s Jazz replacement featuring a quirky exterior design, minimalist interior, and a hybrid engine option. See pricing below…
Priced from R319 000, the local Fit line-up consists of four derivatives, three employing Honda’s 1,5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which is linked to a CVT, and one powered by a hybrid powertrain, the latter linked to an e-CVT. The new 1,5-litre powertrain, Honda says, is more powerful and fuel efficient than that of the outgoing model. The 89 kW/145 N.m 1,5-litre engine has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 5,5 L/100 km. Badged “e:HEV”, the flagship Fit is powered by a 1,5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine connected to two electric motors. The 80 kW/253 N.m hybrid powertrain has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 3,7 L/100 km.
The minimalist interior of the Honda Fit is equipped with an all-new 9,0-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As standard, the Fit features a suite of safety equipment which, among others, include a total of six airbags. Available exclusively on the Fit Hybrid, Honda’s small hatch comes standard with the Japanese manufacturer’s Sensing active safety technology. The Sensing packing features driver assistance functionalities such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation and collision mitigation braking, and auto high-beam headlamps.
As standard, all Fit models ship with Honda’s four-year/60 000 km service plan. Non-hybrid models feature a five-year/200 000 km warranty, while the hybrid Fit gains an eight-year/200 000 km warranty.
