After announcing that the Japanese automaker is set to introduce a brand-new crossover to its line-up, Honda has finally unwrapped the ZR-V …

Based on the concept ‘Unleash your potential’, the ZR-V, Honda says, “was developed as a model to uplift the spirit of customers.” Key features include a “sophisticated” exterior design and “dynamic” performance. According to the firm, “These attributes will enable the driver to enjoy the vehicle more confidently and in a relaxing manner.”

The exterior styling features “flowing” proportions, characterised by “smooth” surfaces. Sharply-styled headlamps flank the front grille. The rear end was designed to emphasise the crossover’s width.

The interior features a touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument binnacle. The fore and aft pews’ hip points have been set low “to allow greater freedom”. Honda says that the driving position provides greater visibility.

The hybrid variant is the first Honda equipped with the automaker’s Sports e:HEV powertrain. The petrol-electric unit comprises a 2.0-litre direct-injection engine and an “advanced” dual-motor hybrid set-up. This unit is coupled with an e-CVT ‘box. The ZR-V will also be available with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The petrol-only unit is equipped with a CVT. Both engine options offer all-wheel drive.
