The Hyundai Grand Creta has touched down on South African shores. See pricing and specification below…

Priced from a hair below R550 000, the local Grand Creta range comprises five derivatives. A duo of trim lines is on offer, Executive and Elite. As standard, entry-level Elite spec features, among others, LED headlamps, complete with daytime-running lights, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin is upholstered in leather and comes equipped with an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality and a reverse-view monitor. A multifunction steering wheel and wireless smartphone charging are included, as is cruise control.

Elite models upgrade to a 10.2-inch Supervision instrument cluster, automatic climate control, ambient lighting and an electrically adjustable driver’s pew. Further included in Elite grade are push-button start and a sunroof.

A duo of engine and transmission options are on offer. Available with the option of either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission with a similar number of cogs, the 2.0-litre Smartstream petrol engine produces 117 kW and 191 Nm of torque.

The 1.5-litre diesel motor comes exclusively equipped with an automatic ‘box. The CRDi engine produces 85 kW and 250 Nm, the latter available from a lowly 1 500 r/min.

The seven-seater Creta measures 4 500 mm bow to stern, 1 790 mm wide and 1 675 mm in height. Ground clearance is rated as 200 mm.

As standard, the range includes a four-year/60 000 km service plan and a seven-year/200 000 km warranty.
