Inspired by the Prophecy EV concept, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has made its global premiere! The South Korean carmaker says the second model in its dedicated all-electric vehicle line-up realises “streamlined” aesthetics and functional efficiency under the theme of ‘Ethical Uniqueness’.

The firm says the Ioniq 6’s “streamlined” and “timeless” design has been aerodynamically sculpted and makes “innovative” use of sustainable materials to reflect today’s EV customers’ values. The emissions-free sedan is “characterised” by “clean” and “simple” lines and a “pure” aerodynamic form. Thanks to its sleek, single-curved profile, the Ioniq 6 boasts a drag coefficient of 0.21, the lowest drag coefficient of any Hyundai motor car.

“Ioniq 6 connects an emotional convergence of functionality with aesthetics,” said SangYup Lee, executive vice president and head of Hyundai’s design centre. “The distinctive streamlined design results from close cooperation between engineers and designers, with obsessive attention to detail and customer-centric values at the core. We have created the Ioniq 6 as a mindful cocoon that offers a personalised place for all.”

Hyundai says the human-centric interior was developed simultaneously with the exterior. Thanks to its architecture, the company’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the “cocoon-shaped” cabin is spacious.

“The use of sustainable materials reflects today’s EV customers’ values”

The interior features a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster of similar measurements. Dual-colour ambient lighting is present, too, and offers a spectrum of 64 hues and six colour themes.

As a reminder, the first member of Hyundai’s Ioniq family was the 5. This model was recently crowned 2022’s World Car of the Year.
