Hyundai has bolstered its local Venue line-up, with the South African arm of the South Korean carmaker introducing a new, entry-level derivative to our shores.

Said Stanley Anderson, sales and operations director of Hyundai Automotive South Africa, “We have identified an opportunity to add the Venue 1.2 Motion with its naturally aspirated engine and manual gearbox for young entry-level buyers, at a price that will make it a real value-for-money purchase.”

15-inch steel wheels are standard.

Costing R58 000 less than the next variant in the range, the Venue 1.2 Motion (in manual guise) is priced at R259 900. According to Hyundai, this model boasts an “impressive” list of standard features.

On the outside, the entry-level model features 15-inch steel wheels with styled covers. The exterior colour palette includes Star Dust, Denim Blue, Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red, Polar White and Phantom Black.

Eight-inch infotainment display incorporates screen mirroring.

As standard, the cabin is equipped with an eight-inch infotainment system, replete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, a rear-view camera and rear park assist sensors. A manual air-conditioning system and fore and aft electric windows, as well as electric adjustability for the side mirrors, are included in the package. Safety items include a duo of airbags, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, and ABS.

The Venue 1.2 Motion is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine. The normally aspirated unit directs 61 kW and 114 kW, available from 6 000 r/min and 4 200 r/min respectively, to the front axle via a five-speed manual transmission.

Multifunction steering wheel.

Included in the asking price is Hyundai’s seven-year or 200 000 km manufacturer’s warranty and a three-year/45 000 km service plan.
