In partnership with Nissan, Citizen has unboxed a duo of fresh, limited-edition timepieces inspired by the latest-generation Nissan Z. Limited to just 1 700 unnumbered pieces, each model sports its own distinct hue, paying tribute to two of the colour schemes of the new Z.
The first colour option on offer is Ikazuchi yellow, which, the Tokyo-based watch manufacturer says, “evokes” a thunderbolt. The second piece is finished in Seiren Blue, a hue that “evokes” the sense of smooth new asphalt on a highway. According to Citizen, the finishes stands in contrast to the black dials.
A nod to the redline indicator on the Z’s tachometer, the second hands are painted in red. A “Z” moniker appears on the crown, sited to the side of the 42 mm case. ‘Round back, a “Nissan” logo is found on the case back.
Each Nissan Fairlady Z timepiece is powered by Citizen’s Eco-Drive Atomic movement, which self-adjusts to time or calendar when travelling overseas by receiving local time signals in four different regions.
As a reminder, the seventh-generation model to don Nissan’s iconic “Z” badge is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbocharged petrol engine, designed to deliver sharp, yet smooth response to the driver’s input. The VR30DDTT motor directs 298 kW and 475 N.m of torque, the latter available from 5 600 r/min, exclusively to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual gearbox or a new nine-speed automatic transmission.
