Jaguar TCS Racing is leading a revolutionary shift towards greater representation of women in the traditionally male-dominated motorsport industry. With their Race to Inspire mission, the team, who clinched the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship, is dedicated to making a positive impact on both the planet and the communities they race in. Their commitment includes competing with the world’s first net carbon race car and nurturing the next generation of engineers and motorsport professionals.

Race to Inspire: Creating Tangible Opportunities

The “Race to Inspire” initiative goes beyond symbolic gestures, aiming to create real opportunities for young people to engage with the sport and explore career paths in the industry. The focus is on promoting diversity and inclusion, with a special emphasis on encouraging women to pursue careers in motorsport and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.

Educational Outreach and Gender Equality Initiatives

Jaguar TCS Racing’s efforts are bolstered by strategic programs aimed at gender equality and educational outreach. The team collaborates with educational institutions and community programs to spark interest in STEM fields among young girls. Earlier this year, they hosted young women from across the UK at their technical facility in Kidlington, Oxfordshire. The students, aged 11 to 18, engaged in interactive experiences, including exploring the technology behind the Jaguar I‑TYPE 6 race car and participating in discussions and workshops with women from the Jaguar TCS Racing team.

Inspiring the Next Generation Through Unique Experiences

In partnership with their title sponsor TCS, Jaguar TCS Racing provided inspiring experiences, such as meet-and-greets, garage tours, and tickets, to over 120 students worldwide. This included the Formula E season finale in London, where Jaguar TCS Racing was crowned the 2024 Teams’ World Champions. The initiative aimed to give children from diverse backgrounds the chance to witness the sport firsthand and hear from team members about their roles and the technology behind Formula E.

A Commitment to Inclusivity and Representation

Ellie Spruce, Partnerships Account Manager, emphasizes Jaguar’s role in promoting gender diversity: “I believe there is room for more females in motorsports. Jaguar, especially, plays a big role in that with their Race to Inspire Initiative.” Currently, 54% of the commercial team are women, showcasing the team’s commitment to inclusivity.

Sara Morrow, Head of Motorsport Business Operations, reflects on the progress: “When I helped establish Jaguar TCS Racing in 2016, I was the only woman in our small team. Today, I’m incredibly proud that we have numerous talented women in various roles, each contributing significantly to our success. It can sometimes feel like a male-dominated world, both in motorsport and in leadership.”

Lais Campelo, a Software and Data Engineer at Jaguar TCS Racing, adds: “Representation is important. If young people, especially girls, see women like me and others on the team talking about our work, they can then picture themselves doing our jobs.”

By highlighting the roles and achievements of women within their team, Jaguar TCS Racing is not only reshaping the landscape of motorsport but also inspiring the engineers, mechanics, marketers, and leaders of tomorrow.
