Kia has whipped the wraps off the Carens, a spacious and comfortable three-row family SUV boasting a “bold” design language, “high-tech” features and “industry-leading” safety systems.
“The vehicle is all set to revolutionise and redefine family commuting”
“With its bold design, high-tech features, and industry-leading safety systems, the Carens is set to create a completely new segment and industry benchmark for family vehicles,” said Ho Sung Song, president and CEO at Kia Corporation. “We are confident that [it] will deliver meaningful experiences to modern families both in their daily and leisure life.”
Tae-Jin Park, managing director and CEO of Kia India, where the Carens will be built for global export, added: “The Carens is safe, feature-rich, has artistry in its design, and is comfortable and classy; it packs everything a modern family would want in their vehicle.
“The Carens, in all aspects, is another true customer-centric offering from Kia. The vehicle is all set to revolutionise and redefine family commuting; it is another game-changing product dedicated to our discerning customers.”
The exterior design “embodies” the Korean carmaker’s latest design philosophy, ‘Opposites United’. According to Kia, the SUV-like bodywork shows confidence and innovation. “Aimed at millennials”, the Carens features “eye-catching” characteristics and “unique” aesthetics. The front end “shows a sporty and stable” stance. The daytime-running lights are based on the firm’s new lighting signature concept, ‘The Star Map’.
Interior highlights include a 10.25-inch, high-definition touch-enabled display. The touchscreen set-up incorporates Kia’s next-generation Connect infotainment software. In the Carens, screen mirroring software relays music to an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system. The cabin further features 64-colour ambient lighting. The front pews are ventilated.
As standard, the three-row SUV sports a bouquet of safety items. These include, among others, six airbags, ABS, BAS, ESC, HAC, and disc brakes all-round. In addition, the Carens features front parking sensors.
