The Kia Pegas has made its debut in South Africa, with the compact sedan boasting an upmarket design, a spacious interior and standard technologies. Said the Korean manufacturer, the Pegas compact sedan offers buyers “the perfect combination of technology and space”.
Available with the option of two trim levels – LX and EX – the three-model Pegas line-up is priced from R225 995 for the entry-level LX manual derivative to R251 995 for the EX automatic variant. The mid-range EX manual costs R236 995.

Included with LX trim, the Pegas comes equipped with, among others, a 7,0-inch touchscreen infotainment setup incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; a multifunction steering wheel; a six-speaker sound system; a manual air-conditioning system, and a rear-view camera, supplemented by park distance control. LX derivatives is fitted with 14-inch steel wheels.
In addition to these features, EX trim upgrades to a leather steering wheel, faux-leather upholstery for the seats, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and cruise control. Other items included with EX specification are chrome-coated door handles, front fog lights and 14-inch alloy wheels.

As standard, the Pegas line-up is fitted with a list of safety items such as dual front airbags and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages. ABS with EBD, and disc brakes at each corner completes the package.
According to Kia, the Pegas, which measures 4 300 mm long, boasts the most luggage capacity in the compact sedan class, with a total of 475 litres of space available in the boot.

The Pegas is powered by the latest version of Kia’s 1,4-litre multi-point injection petrol engine, producing 69 kW at 6 000 r/min and 132 N.m at 4 000 r/min. Power and torque are exclusively directed to the front wheels via either a five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic.
All Pegas models ship with Kia’s five-year/unlimited km warranty, which includes roadside assistance, and a four-year/60 000 km service plan.
