Pre-orders for the Sportage GT-Line are now open.

“Sportage has a nearly three decade-long heritage, and remains Kia’s best-selling model globally,” Stephen Crosse, sales and marketing director of Kia South Africa, says. “Now, with the addition of the GT-Line derivative at the peak of the range, the Sportage is at its most expressive, dynamic and luxurious, and offers a distinguished last hurrah before the fifth-generation model debuts next year.”

Added Crosse: “[The Sportage GT-Line is] a no-compromise SUV offering a fuel-efficient, turbocharged engine, a dynamic driving experience and a spacious cabin with class-leading technology that ensures the comfort and safety of your family.”

Panoramic sunroof included as standard.

Distinguishing the range-topping model from its lower-tier Sportage stablemates, the GT-Line derivative gains a selection of model-specific exterior elements. These include, among others, distinct automatic LED combination head- and taillamps; dual exhaust outlets, finished in chrome trim; GT-Line-specific skid plates, and striking 19-inch alloy wheels.

Accessing the cabin (done via smart entry) reveals two-tone, diamond-patterned and perforated artificial leather trim for the (electrically adjustable up front) seats; a flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel, and gloss finish for the centre console.

Luggage capacity rated at 466 litres.

As standard, the Sportage GT-Line features an eight-inch high-definition touchscreen infotainment system, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone climate control, heating functionality for the front and rear pews, an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror, and panoramic sunroof. In addition, GT-Line level of specification includes a height-adjustable powered tailgate.

The suite of safety systems include, among others, six airbags, Isofix child-seat achorages, cruise control, and hill-start assist. Fore and aft parking sensors, the latter supplemented by a rear-view reverse camera, are included.

Sportage
Turbocharged 1.6-litre motor produces 130 kW.

The GT-Line variant is powered by Kia’s 1.6-litre T-GDi engine, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The turbocharged petrol unit despatches 130 kW and 265 N.m of torque to all four corners for a claimed zero to 100 km/h time of 9.1 seconds.

The limited-edition Kia Sportage 1.6 T-GDi AWD GT-Line retails for R649 995. A five-year/90 000 km service plan and five-year/unlimited km warranty are included in the asking price. The Sportage GT-Line will officially go on sale on 15 October 2021.
