LEGO has unboxed a brand-new, Ferrari-inspired Technic set. Capturing the essence of the Prancing Horse brand’s racing spirit, meet the 1:8-scale Daytona SP3…
The new Technic model is the fourth addition to the Denmark-based company’s ‘Ultimate Car Concept’ series. “This model is a testament to the pursuit of excellence at the core of the Ferrari and LEGO Group ethos. No detail has been overlooked,” said Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of the LEGO Group.
The scale model sports working butterfly doors. The top can be removed. In addition, the bonnet and engine cover can be opened, with the latter revealing the scale model’s V12 engine. The LEGO V12, coupled with a functioning eight-speed sequential transmission, features moving pistons. The LEGO version is finished in red. The wheels are silver.
“I’m blown away by the attention to detail”
The LEGO Ferrari Daytona SP3 measures 59 cm long, 25 cm wide and “over” 14 cm in height. The set comprises 3 778 pieces.
“I’m blown away by the attention to detail and precision of the model at such a small scale,” Christiansen added. “We’re incredibly lucky to be able to partner with Ferrari to help fans turn their dreams into a reality as they build this standout example of racing excellence for real with this new set.”
Flavio Manzoni, chief design officer at Ferrari, said, “It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with the LEGO Group on this model, a stunning replica of our limited-edition Daytona SP3 supercar. Thanks to this outstanding recreation with LEGO elements, Ferrari and LEGO fans can now build this car piece-by-piece and feel like they are participants in the assembly process, with the opportunity to display the final model in their own homes, where they will be able to appreciate its beauty.”
