Limited to only 150 units, BMW has whipped the wraps off the 7 Series ‘The First Edition’. The package will be offered in only Japan, available on the 740i Excellence and M Sport and i7 xDrive60.
The ‘The First Edition’ models will be available in two-tone exterior colour schemes (model dependent) and interior hues. Leather trim is standard. Inside, the limited-edition 7s features a 31.3-inch, 8K rear panoramic display. A Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system is included, complete with 40 speakers.
The 740i is powered by an inline-six petrol motor, producing 280 kW and 540 Nm of torque. The 740i’s twin-turbocharged engine incorporates 48 V mild-hybrid technology integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
The i7 xDrive60’s twin electric-motor arrangement produces 400 kW and 745 Nm. According to the German marque, the emissions-free saloon offers an all-electric range of “up to” 625 km.
As a reminder, BMW South Africa has confirmed the two above-mentioned models are the only new 7 Series variants penned in for local shores.
