Land Rover is celebrating the Rugby World Cup 2023, with the British marque revealing the Defender 110 P400e Rugby World Cup 2023 Limited Edition. Only 23 examples are available.

Taking inspiration from the Defender which has been touring France to showcase the Webb Ellis Cup, this limited-edition version features unique trim elements. The bodywork is finished in Santorini Black, contrasted by 22-inch Satin Gold alloy wheels. The latter hue has also been applied to the bumper inserts, “Defender” script, signature graphic and RWC 2023 logos, which can be found behind the front wheel arches. A neat touch, this model’s puddle lamps feature a unique graphic — the RWC 2023 logo.

Stepping inside, each of the 23 units feature black Windsor Leather trim, replete with blue contrast stitching for the seats and mats. RWC 2023 logos have been embroidered onto the front headrests. A ‘Rugby World Cup France 2023’ script and the number (out of 23) of each model have been laser-etched into the fascia. The same script can be found on the illuminated tread plates.

Based on the Defender 110 P400e, this special edition employs a plug-in petrol-electric powertrain, comprising a (221 kW/400 Nm) 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and 116 kW/275 Nm electric motor. In total, the hybrid configuration produces 297 kW and 640 Nm of torque, which, when not travelling on electricity alone, is available from a mere 1 500 r/min.

The company says the P400e set-up sips 2.8 L/100 km. In addition, this arrangement allows for an electric-only range of 59 km. The Defender 110 P400e completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 5.6 seconds, before topping out at 191 km/h (or 209 km/h when specified with 22-inch wheels, like the Defender Rugby World Cup 2023 Limited Edition).
