Land Rover has announced that eight Discovery Sport derivatives – including the “unique” Carbon Edition variant – will arrive on South African shores in 2022.

Based on the R-Dynamic model, the Urban Edition gains several model-specific design elements to distinguish it from its Discovery Sport siblings. These include a black contrast roof, aluminium finishers, non-leather Luxtec suede seats. As standard, the Urban Edition ships with an array of technologies. These include the British car manufacturer’s ClearSight rear-view mirror. Five exterior colour options are on offer: Carpathian Grey, Firenze Red, Santorini Black, Ostuni White and Hakuba Silver.

The Discovery Sport Urban Edition is powered by Land Rover’s P250-badged 2.0-litre petrol motor. The turbocharged four-cylinder unit produces 183 kW and 365 Nm of torque, which allows a claimed zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds.
