The Megane R.S. Ultime has made its global premiere, with the French firm saying this limited-edition hot hatch is the final model to don the Renault Sport logo as Alpine, Renault Group’s sports car brand, will now write the next chapters in the R.S. story.
The Megane R.S. Ultime has an “exclusive” design language that features Renault Sport’s familiar visual hallmarks. In addition, the model-specific graphics are inspired by the company’s new logo. Many of the exterior elements are finished in black. The Megane R.S. Ultime’s bodywork features a 60 mm wider front and 45 mm wider rear fenders, adding to its more prominent design cues. Bridgestone Potenza S007 semi-slick tyres wrap around 19-inch wheels.
The interior features Recaro bucket seats finished in titanium black Alcantara upholstery. The door sills are model-specific. Each edition has a numbered plate near the transmission controls. In-car tech includes 9.3-inch touchscreen infotainment coupled with a Bose audio system. A 10-inch digital instrument cluster is also present. A head-up display is optional, as is a sunroof.
Under the bonnet of the Megane R.S. Ultime sits a turbocharged four-pot producing 221 kW and 420 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled with an EDC gearbox (in Europe). A Torson mechanical diff is standard fitment. Renault claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 5.7 seconds. Stopping power is provided by Brembo dual-cast brakes. Four-wheel steering is also present.
