Mercedes-Benz South Africa has revealed pricing and spec for the EQA.
Available in only 250 guise, the EQA is priced at R1 169 500. As standard, the EQA 250 ships with LED headlamps and Benz’s ‘Progressive’ exterior package, which includes 18-inch light-alloy wheels, polished aluminium roof rails, and ‘Artico’ leather trim with Fléron fabric for the interior and a leather-wrapped multifunction sports steering wheel.
Further included in the list of standard specifications is the firm’s MBUX multimedia system, replete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital instrument binnacle. Climate control and ambient lighting are also present on the inside. Merc’s ‘Seat Comfort’ and ‘Parking’ packages are included. The latter package features a reverse-view camera and active parking assist.
A tyre pressure monitoring system and blind-spot assist are further included as standard. In addition to the packages mentioned above, the EQA 250 is also fitted with the ‘Keyless-Go Comfort’ pack, which features wireless smartphone charging, keyless go and an ‘Easy-pack’ tailgate.
Optional items include Benz’s AMG Line pack (R53 000), which features AMG body styling, Dinamica microfibre trim with Artico leather, and Nappa leather-wrapped tiller, among other items. Eighteen-inch, five-spoke alloys are also present here.
Other optional packages include the ‘Leather’ package (R25 300), which includes heated front pews; ‘Night’ package (R12 900), which includes black roof rails, among others; the ‘MBUX Innovation’ pack (R20 400), which includes a head-up display and MBUX interior assistant; and ‘Advanced Plus’ package (R40 400), which comprises an advanced sound system, among others. The EQA can also be had with the ‘Electric Art’ package (R14 000).
As a reminder, the EQA 250 is equipped with a high-voltage, 66.5 kWh “double-decker” lithium-ion battery, which sits as a structural element within the underbody of the electric crossover. The latter, 420 V item, provides surge to a single electric asynchronous motor. Mounted on the front axle, the electric motor produces 140 kW and 375 N.m of torque.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the EQA 250 offers an electric-only range of 493 km and combined electricity consumption of 15.7 kWh/100 km. The maximum speed is a claimed 160 km/h.
