BMW South Africa has confirmed the local launch date and model line-up for the new-generation 7 Series. Scheduled to arrive in SA come November, the range will comprise two derivatives, the 740i and i7 xDrive60.
For starters, the 740i is powered by an inline-six petrol motor. The only internal combustion 7 penned in for SA, the 740i’s twin-turbocharged engine incorporates 48 V mild-hybrid technology integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. This model is endowed with 280 kW and 540 Nm of torque.
Slotting in at the top of the local 7 Series range, the i7 xDrive60’s twin electric-motor arrangement produces 400 kW and 745 Nm. According to the German marque, the emissions-free saloon offers an all-electric range of “up to” 625 km.
