Audi has whipped the wraps off the A6 Avant e-tron concept, a battery-powered estate for the electric age.
Based on the Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer’s “forward-looking” PPE platform, the A6 Avant e-tron represents a new design concept. The electrically-powered estate shares its Sportback sibling’s dimensions. Like the A6 Sportback e-tron, the Avant variant measuress 4 960 mm bow to stern, 1 960 mm wide and 1 440 mm in height.
According to Audi, the A6 Avant e-tron’s exterior design is not just a simple design exercise. “Its lines and elegant proportions preview future Audi production models and offer clues about how dynamic and elegant the electrically-powered luxury class will look,” said the brand with the four rings.
“With the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept, we are offering a completely tangible look at future production models on our new PPE technology platform,” said Audi board member for technical development Oliver Hoffmann. “What we want most of all is to use technical skills to add an exclamation point.”
The concept sports a high-voltage battery set-up. Audi claims that, thanks to the 800 V system, the electric estate has a 270 kW charging capacity. All-electric range (on the WLTP cycle) is rated at “up to” 700 km.
