Volkswagen has released teaser sketches of the next-generation Amarok. According to VW, the latest version of its premium bakkie will boast not only a “completely new” appearance inside and out but will also offer “even more” extensive equipment “not seen before” in the double-cab bakkie segment.

“The Amarok will, from 2022, be featuring innovations that have not been seen before in this segment”

The exterior is distinguished by a striking front end, complete with a “defining” “X” design. “We’ve given the strength and power of the new Amarok an unambiguous expression–with clear Volkswagen DNA, inside and out,” said Albert-Johann Kirzinger, head of design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

New interior promises tech innovations that’s unique to the segment.

“The Amarok makes possible what in many places appears impossible at first sight: it makes things easier for its users by assisting them in their work and everyday lives”, said Dr Lars Krause, brand board of management member for sales and marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. “That’s because the Amarok provides solutions that enable our customers to achieve their goals – especially when things get difficult.”

The new Amarok will also be built in South Africa

“Now in its third generation,” VW says, “the new model has significantly more driver-assist systems.” The Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer added that the new iteration “knows how to impress customers in terms of connectivity”.

“The Amarok will, from 2022, thus be featuring innovations that have not been seen before in this segment. And it will still, of course, not be deterred by any rough terrain,” said VW.

In addition, the new Amarok will be built in South Africa. Production will also continue at VW’s Pacheco factory in Argentina.
