BMW has announced the global-premiere date for the new 5 Series sedan, with the Bavarian automaker confirming that the eighth generation will debut in October 2023.

The German marque says the next-generation model will be more dynamic and comfortable than ever while boasting a fresh interpretation of its signature sporting design. The upcoming 5 Series will also feature the manufacturer’s ‘Curved Display’ digital instruments/touchscreen infotainment arrangement incorporating Operating System 8.5 and “innovative” digital services.

“A fully electric performance version will also be included in the new BMW 5 Series Sedan line-up”

The new version of the firm’s business saloon will be available with a range of powertrains. These include “highly efficient” petrol and diesel engines featuring 48 V mild-hybrid tech, plug-in hybrid variants and, for the first time, an all-electric model, the i5 sedan, which will see the BMW Group continue the systematic expansion of its all-electric offering.

Speaking of the i5, Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, announced further details indicating the 5 Series would also be available with an all-electric M Performance model. The all-electric BMW i4 M50 shows how BMW blends dynamic performance and electric mobility to perfection,” said Zipse. “It was the best-selling BMW M model worldwide in 2022. A fully electric performance version from BMW M GmbH will also be included in the new BMW 5 Series sedan line-up.”
