It’s finally here – Porsche South Africa has announced on its Instagram page the new, 992-generation 911 GT3 has touched down on SA shores.
Available in in both Porsche’s dual-clutch, PDK transmission and (purists rejoice!) a manual gearbox, the new 911 GT3 is endowed with the Stuttgart-based brand’s horizontally opposed six-cylinder motor which, in true Neunelfer fashion, is, of course, mounted at the rear. The flat-six engine produces 375 kW and 470 Nm of torque which, in the PDK-equipped variant, allow for a claimed zero to 100 km/h sprint time of 3.4 seconds and top speed of 318 km/h.
The manual derivative, meanwhile, reaches the three-figure marker from standstill five-tenths of a second slower at 3.9 seconds. However, this model boasts a top speed 2 km/h more than its self-shifting sibling.
Sold with Porsche SA’s three-year/100 000 km maintenance plan, the 992-generation GT3 (in both PDK and manual formats) is priced from R3 159 000. Opting for a five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan sees an increase of R50 000, which brings the total asking price to R3 109 000.
