Mercedes-AMG has released teaser images of a soon-to-be-revealed GT 63 S E Performance-based project car, created with musician and brand ambassador for Mercedes electric vehicles Will.I.Am. The new project car will be officially revealed on 5 May 2022. The performance arm of the German marque says it gave Will.I.Am a Mercedes-AMG, and he turned it into a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

As a reminder, the GT 63 S E Performance – the German car manufacturer’s first hybrid performance car – is powered by Affalterbach’s familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, coupled with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor. The internal combustion engine produces 470 kW, available from 5 500 r/min to 6 500 r/min, and 900 N.m of torque, on tap from a lowly 2 500 r/min to 4 500 r/min. The electric motor is positioned at the rear axle and produces 150 kW and 320 N.m.

The petrol-electric arrangement directs 620 kW and “up to” 1 470 N.m to all four corners via Mercedes’ 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. According to Mercedes-AMG, the GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door completes the zero to 100 km/h sprint in 2.9 seconds and accelerates from zero to 200 km/h in “less than” 10 seconds. The maximum speed is rated at 316 km/h.
