911 Dakar

Specifications & options

As standard, the Porsche 911 Dakar ships with a generous amount of standard equipment. The no-cost paint colours available are white, black, GT Silver Metallic and White/Gentian Blue metallic. Shade Green Metallic, Shark Blue and Ice Grey Metallic can be had for R65 910.

Only one wheel design is available, the model-specific Dakar wheels measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches at the back. The wheels are wrapped in all-terrain rubber. The wheels can be had in Satin Black and white for no additional cost. Specifying Vesuvius Grey wheel paint will set you back R13 310. Titanium wheel bolts are available for R34 700.

Continuing with the exterior, a lightweight carbon-fibre roof can be had for R86 430. Protective front foil is available for R52 030.

The Rallye Design package, which pays tribute to the 911 that claimed victory at the Paris-Dakar Rally, includes a gold and red decal set, rally stripes, carbon-fibre reinforced plastic spoiler, and several interior items. This package comes in at R633 040.

Inside, full bucket seats are standard. However, adaptive sports seats with 18-way electric adjustability and memory function can be had at no cost.

Powertrain

As a reminder, the Porsche 911 Dakar is equipped with the company’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged boxer-six. The horizontally opposed six-cylinder produces 353 kW and 570 Nm of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission directs power and torque to all four corners. Porsche claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically governed to 240 km/h.

However, the Porsche 911 Dakar’s party piece is, of course, its Rallye and Offroad driving modes. As standard, it has a ground clearance of 50 mm more than the 911 Carrera with sports suspension. However, the standard-fitment lift system can add another 30 mm to the ground clearance. The Porsche 911 Dakar can travel up to 170 km/h when the suspension is set to its tallest setting before the suspension set-up lowers back to its standard position.

Porsche 911 Dakar pricing

The Porsche 911 Dakar is priced from R4 140 000, which includes the firm’s three-year Driveplan. Opting for the five-year Driveplan costs an additional R50 000, bringing the price to R4 190 000.
