RM Sotheby’s has announced that the recently revealed one-off Porsche 911 “Sally Special” has been sold for $3.6 million at a recent auction held at the Monterey Car Week in California. At the current Rand-Dollar exchange rate, this figure translates to a whopping R61 150 140! The proceeds from the auction will go to two charities, Girls Inc. and the charity USA for UNHCR, an organisation supporting refugees from Ukraine.

As a reminder, this one-of-a-kind 911 was inspired by Sally Carrera, the famous (996-generation) car from Disney and Pixar’s animated film Cars. As such, this 992 generation features several bespoke design cues. These include (hand-applied) Sallybluemetallic exterior paintwork and Sally’s tattoo, which is visible when the rear spoiler is extended. The car rides on reinterpreted Turbo-look wheels, designed especially for the Sally Special.

Based on the 992-generation 911 Carrera GTS, this model is equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, which, here, is coupled with a seven-speed manual transmission. The petrol motor produces 353 kW and 570 Nm of torque.

A Porsche Design chronograph was included with the 911 “Sally Special” motor car. Like the sports car, the timepiece was developed in collaboration with Pixar.

“Together with Pixar, we have brought the spirit of Sally to life in a new way, not on the screen, but off the screen. With this one-off street legal 911, the ‘Sally Special’, which we are auctioning for charity, we want to help people who urgently need support, quite in keeping with the spirit of the film character,” said Dr Sebastian Rudolph, Vice President Communications, Sustainability and Politics at Porsche AG.
