Developed at Porsche’s Weissach Development Centre and co-designed by Studio F.A. Porsche in Zell am See, the German marque says its box-fresh Porsche Tequipment roof tent allows its owners to experience their Porsche sports car in a “fresh” way, “transforming” it into a hotel room for nature lovers.

The Porsche Tequipment roof tent boasts an “exclusive” hard-case design. When folded, the item measures 1 460 mm in length, 1 400 mm in width, and 330 mm in height. It weighs “approximately” 56 kg.

When in its extended position, the tent measures 2 580 mm in length, 2 570 mm in width, and 1 180 mm in height. The floor surface measures 2 100 mm by 1 300 mm.

A “high-density” polyfoam mattress is integrated. The tent walls are fashioned from a breathable cotton blend. The zips are water resistant. There’s also a separate rain cover for entry as the tent has been designed to withstand wetter weather.

Porsche says the two-person roof tent “is quite a room with a view”. It features two side windows and a roof window. An insect guard offers protection against mosquitoes. An additional “black-out” function keeps the light out. Further interior highlights include Light Grey “highly insulating” quilted lining.

The automaker says the all-season set-up’s side walls mimic the fly line of the 911. It also features a “Porsche” logo.

The roof tent can be installed on the 911 (bar GT, cabriolet and Targa models), the Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan. The rooftop tent is priced at €4 980 (R86 177.95).
