Mercedes-Benz South Africa has announced local pricing and specifications for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. Here’s how much you can expect to pay for the Three-pointed Star brand’s flagship luxury saloon…

Priced from R4 354 791, the S680 4Matic is the sole Mercedes-Maybach S-Class model available on local shores. Compared to its standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class siblings, it costs R2 142 463 more than the S350d and R1 860 039 more than the S500 4Matic.

The S680 4Matic is equipped with Benz’s 6.0-litre V12 engine. The twin-turbocharged petrol unit sends 463 kW and a whopping 1 000 Nm of torque to all four corners via Merc’s familiar nine-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sprints to the three-figure marker from a standstill in a claimed 4.5 seconds. Mercedes claims an average fuel consumption figure of 14 L/100 km.

A total of 18 exterior paint options are on offer. Eight are no-cost options, with the rest comprising solid hues and two-tone paintwork. The former is priced from R29 700 to R121 000. Dressing your Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in a two-tone paint scheme will set you back R270 000.

As standard, the S680 4Matic is fitted with 19-inch light-alloy wheels. However, a quartet of other wheels are available at additional cost. These include two sets of 20-inch alloys, each priced at R88 000, and a set of 21-inch multi-spoke items for R115 000. Rear-axle steering is available for R30 000.

Mercedes’ Multibeam LED lighting set-up is standard fitment. Specifying the firm’s Digital Light system will set you back R40 000.

The S680 ships with Benz’s Exclusive interior package, which includes the Exclusive trim package. This pack features Nappa leather upholstery, chrome handles and a stainless steel loading sill, and illuminated door sill panels with “Maybach” lettering. The Chauffer and Memory packages are included at no cost. Anthracite open-pore wood trim and gloss black wood trim are no-cost options. Several other interior trims are available and priced from R20 200 to R70 800. A wood- and leather-trimmed tiller is available for R13 000.

Comprising heating functionality for the steering wheel and front and rear armrest heating, the Warmth Comfort pack is priced at R11 200. Neck and shoulder heating and ventilation for the rear passengers can be had with the R35 000 Rear Seat Comfort package. To enhance rear-passenger comfort, customers can also option folding tables (R38 100) and a refrigerated compartment (R26 200).

The German marque’s MBUX multimedia set-up is included as standard. Customers can specify a 3D digital diver’s display for R22 000. A Burmester surround sound system is standard, with a high-end 4D surround system from the same company optional. The Burmester 4D unit is priced at R148 900. Active ambient lighting is available for R17 000.
