Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa has announced it is now offering a motorhome conversion for the Sprinter, with the local arm of the German automaker revealing pricing for the Sprinter AWD Motorhome. See pricing below…

Regarding spec, Mercedes-Benz Vans SA says, “When converting this iconic vehicle into a mobile home, together with a reliable Mercedes-Benz VanPartner, you will have absolute flexibility to fill it with all the features and customisations your heart desires.” Customisations options include installing the van with “blissful” sleeping quarters, a kitchen, and a “stylish” office nook. Wi-Fi can also be fitted.
“The Sprinter motorhome allows you to take all the luxuries of your everyday life with you, wherever you go. On top of that, it offers an exceptionally smooth, relaxing and economical ride,” said Marinus Venter, the head of Product and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans SA.
The Sprinter AWD Motorhome is equipped with the German marque’s OM654 engine. The turbocharged four-cylinder unit produces 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque, available from 3 800 r/min and a lowly 1 400 r/min to 2 400 r/min, respectively. The company’s nine-speed automatic transmission directs power to all four corners. Further enhancing the van’s off-road capabilities, it features downhill speed regulation.
According to Benz, the “sky is the limit” when converting your (standard, R1 199 348) Sprinter CDI 319 AWD into the Motorhome. The conversion costs from R200 000. However, the company says pricing can reach “up to” R900 000 depending on what you add to their “home away from home”.
So, how long does it take to transform your Sprinter into the Motorhome? Merc says the conversion time depends on what customers want to add to their vehicle. However, a basic conversion can be done within a month.
