The new Nissan Qashqai has launched in South Africa, with the local arm of the Japanese automaker releasing pricing and spec for the third-generation version. See pricing below…
Based on Nissan’s new Alliance CMF-C platform, the box-fresh Qashqai measures 4 425 mm in length, 1 835 in width, 1 625 mm in height and 2 665 mm between the fore and aft axles. Nissan says the new iteration’s underpinnings create a vehicle which “succeeds in reconciling the challenging customer demands in terms of design, spaciousness, dynamics and carbon footprint”.
In addition, Nissan SA says one of the most significant factors in the latest iteration’s performance is the overall increase in stiffness in the body structure. The firm says, “In conjunction with the precisely tuned suspension springs and damper rates, the all-new Qashqai has increased precision, response and reduction in vibrations.”
The new Qashqai range is available with only one engine option, coupled with a six-speed manual or the company’s new Xtronic continuous variable transmission (CVT). The 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol unit produces 96 kW and 240 Nm of torque in the manual model and 110 kW and 250 Nm in the CVT-equipped derivatives. Nissan claims an average fuel consumption figure of 6.4 L/100 km for the former and 6.1 L/100 km for the Xtronic variants.
Nissan SA has further confirmed that an e-POWER model will make its way to local shores in 2023.
