The fourth-generation Opel Zafira has launched in SA, with Opel saying the new model takes its namesake to new heights. See pricing below…

The new Zafira is available in two guises. The Life Edition variant is targeted at families and outdoor adventurers, Opel says. This model offers an eight-seat seating arrangement. As standard, all variants include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Edition trim features six speakers.

The Life Elegance derivative takes on a more luxurious approach. Aimed at business customers and families seeking more comfort, this model ditches the three-seat middle row for a duo of individual captain’s chairs and a sliding and folding table in the centre.

Elegance trim further includes dual-zone climate control, which is complemented by rear air conditioning. The latter is controlled via multi-zone sun sensors, which adjusts the climate according to the intensity of the sun This model further features heating functionality for the front pews. Curtains are available as standard. In addition to the host of standard items in the Elegance are keyless entry and start, and a head-up display, among others. The Elegance upgrades to 10 speakers.

Both models are powered by a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine. The four-cylinder unit produces 110 kW and 370 Nm of torque, the latter available from a lowly 2 000 r/min. Opel claims a combined fuel consumption figure of “just” 6.3 L/100 km.
