The box-fresh Renault Trafic has touched down on South African shores, with the local arm of the French firm revealing pricing and specifications for the panel van. See pricing below…
Specifications
As standard, the Trafic panel van features LED headlamps. It rides on 16-inch wheels with “elegant” wheel covers. The “completely redesigned” interior includes an “easy-to-use” infotainment system with integrated R&Go radio and Bluetooth. USB and AUX ports are also present. Chrome inserts can be found in the cabin. Renault says the armrests are wider than before. Further included are electrically adjustable side mirrors.
Renault says the cabin can be turned into a mobile office when folding down the backrest on the middle seat. The company says this offers enough space for a laptop and an A4-sized swivel stand “to easily hold any working documents”. In addition, there are several “smart” storage solutions. These include a new ‘Easy Life’ drawer offering 88 litres of stowage space (54 litres of which is located under the passenger bench seat). The load volume is rated at 8 900 litres. (The Trafic measures 5 480 mm in length, 1956 mm in width and 1 967 mm in height.)
Powertrain
The new Trafic panel van is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine producing 125 kW and 380 Nm of torque, available from 3 500 r/min and a lowly 1 500 r/min, respectively. Renault says the oil-burning powertrain has an average fuel consumption figure of 7.2 L/100 km. The fuel tank is 80 litres.
Pricing
The Trafic panel van is priced at R599 999. A five-year/90 000 km service plan and five-year/150 000 km warranty are included in the pricing.
