The Porsche Macan T has landed on South African shores, with the local arm of the German car manufacturer revealing pricing for the first four-door model from the Stuttgart-based automaker to don the “T” designation.
The T-badged Macan is priced from R1 190 000, including a three-year/100 000 km maintenance plan. Optioning the five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan adds R50 000 to the aforementioned asking price.
As a reminder, the Macan T is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine. Compared to its S- and GTS-badged siblings’ twin-turbocharged V6 powertrains, the Macan T’s unit weighs 58.8 kg less, giving this model “excellent” start-off performance and “optimum” cornering ability.
The turbocharged petrol motor in the Macan T produces 195 kW and 400 Nm of torque. Power is directed to all four corners via Porsche’s seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Fitted with the Sport Chrono package, the Macan T completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 6.2 seconds before topping out at a maximum speed of 232 km/h.
The latest model to join the range sports a “specially tuned” chassis, lowered by 15 mm “or more”. It is the only Porsche model equipped with a steel suspension set-up, complete with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. In addition, the anti-roll bars on the front axle are more rigid. At the same time, the chassis tuning has been optimised to create a suspension system that provides very responsive steering behaviour and agile handling.
The Macan T sports an array of exclusive details, outside and in. The exterior features Agate Grey metallic paintwork to differentiate this model from its stablemates. Sports tailpipes are included as standard. The Macan T sits on a set of 20-inch, dark titanium wheels.
The cabin features eight-way electrically adjustable seats, complete with heating functionality. The pews are trimmed in exclusive upholstery based on the firm’s Black Leather package. The exterior hue is carried over to the cabin for the contrast stitching on the seats, headrests and multifunction GT sports steering wheel. Race-Tex trim can also be found inside. A 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard.
