The all-new Honda BR-V has launched in South Africa, with the local arm of the Japanese automaker releasing pricing and spec for the latest iteration of its compact seven-seater. See pricing below…

Compared to its predecessor, the second-generation compact seven-seater measures 4 490 mm in length (an increase of 35 mm), 1 780 mm in width (up by 45 mm) and 13 mm more in height at 1 638 mm. According to Honda, this lends the new BR-V a more SUV-like look.

Honda says the new BR-V’s cabin offers more space thanks to the increase in exterior dimensions. The company says those seated on the second and third row of seats have 20 mm and 30 mm more shoulder space. The driver’s seating position is up by 44 mm for improved visibility.

One engine is employed across the local BR-V range. However, the 1.5-litre petrol unit can be had with a six-speed manual transmission (in the Trend and Comfort models) and a CVT (Comfort and Elegance variants). The powertrain produces 89 kW and 145 Nm of torque, available from 6 600 r/min and 4 300 r/min, respectively. Honda claims an average fuel consumption figure of 6.8 L/100 km for the manual models and 6.3 L/100 km for those equipped with a CVT.

Three levels of specification are on offer. These are entry-level Trend, mid-tier Comfort, and range-topping Elegance. As standard, all models feature LED headlamps and daytime-running lights. The rear combination lamps are also of the LED variety. Seven-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also standard fitment.

Manual air conditioning is present in the Trend, while the Comfort and Elegance models upgrade to automatic air conditioning. Whereas the entry-level and mid-tier variants feature cloth upholstery, the Elegance derivative’s interior is trimmed in synthetic leather. Trend and Comfort spec includes four speakers, while Elegance has six. Sixteen-inch wheels are present on the Trend and Comfort. Elegance upgrades to 17-inch alloys.

Elegance also features Honda’s Sensing system. This package includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and a lane-watch camera. A rear-view camera and parking sensors are also present on the Elegance.

As standard, all models ship with Honda SA’s five-year/200 000 km warranty. However, a four-year/60 000 km service plan is only included with the Comfort and Elegance derivatives. The service plan is optional for the Trend variant.
